Multiplying and Dividing Fractions
- Notes - Practice (worksheets and textbook) - 4 times tables - Fractions Quiz #2 on Friday! (right after Destination Imagination) REMEMBRANCE DAY Week - Remembrance Day is on Wednesday - no school. - The school is hosting a Remembrance Day Ceremony on Tuesday the 10th at 10:30am - all welcome. - In Math 8 we will be focusing on calculations with fractions; adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. - 3 times tables this week! This week we're focusing on - Reducing Fractions - Adding and subtracting fractions - 2 times tables HALLOWEEN WEEK! - Dress up for school on Friday! - Otherwise we're working on equivalent fractions (we'll take a walk outside on Tuesday to look for fractions in nature) - We'll practice converting improper fractions to mixed numbers and then back again. We'll use worksheets and games to practice this skill. - We're practicing the 10 times tables this week. - Cue card notes. - QUIZ ON FRIDAY!!! More fractions work! - Students will be looking at comparing fractions; how can you tell which is bigger. - Students will be working on worksheets addressing equivalent fractions - Each day we will have a hands-on activity or game to help consolidate these facts We'll be working on our 5 times-tables this week. Get ready for the x5 quiz on Friday! Destination Imagination is on this Friday in period 1. Short week this week! - Monday is Games Day! Our reward for all the Yen (token economy) that the students have been saving. - Tuesday and Wednesday will focus on Fraction Counting. Just what does the denominator and numerator tell us? - We will begin our daily times table practice. As students show mastery of each of the times tables, they will earn rewards to be cashed in on one of the final days of Math class this semester. - NO SCHOOL FRIDAY! We will begin our unit on Fractions this week. Students will: - practice with hands-on activities what fractions look like. - Cook a batch of brownies and use their fraction knowledge to divide the batch between friends. Don't forget that Friday will be Destination Imagination. This week we will completing our revision on rounding and learn more about factors. There will be a test on Friday on Unit 1 - Whole Number Computation. This week we will:
